Projection at Oxfordshire History Centre until Dec 17th

A new projection, using words and images gathered through the I, Cowley project, is currently on display in the public search room at the Oxfordshire History Centre, located in St Lukes Church, Temple road, Cowley. Ask at reception to view it and get to know your local history centre!

Depictions of Cowley people, past and present, are randomly juxtaposed against fragments of text, extracted from historic documents associated with the area. Each new relationship of words and image suggests a new narrative - some striking, some mundane; some humorous, some poignant.

In a Different Light projection event

It was an amazing sight, to see all those photographs that people have given to the project as well as the portraits created by Giles Davies, projected large onto the side of the Hockmore Tower flats. It was made even more special by a guest of honour, Jean Fisher (who was born in 1924) came to see her family photographs appear as part of the collection. Thanks to her kind neighbours who brought her for a special night to remember! Well done also to artist Neil C Smith for presenting them all in such an interesting and captivating style.
